News – 20th July 2010

With the Ozzy tour off to a great start, a 3 week break means I can jump back into my old seat playing keys and a bit of acoustic guitar with Will Young on 8 Country House / Festivals through July. Nice to be back with Will’s band for these shows and the great British weather is not disappointing us with plenty of wind and rain for these outdoor shows!
The show on Hampsted Heath from Saturday 17th July will be aired on Radio 2 , Thursday 22nd July 2010 at 8PM.

An in depth interview with Keyboard Magazine due out in November has video interview clips and tuition clips here;

Some tips on how to play some Ozzy tunes on keys if you are inclined!

The new album Scream – Ozzy Osbourne’s first album in three years and 10th studio album overall – has entered the charts in the Top Ten in seven countries. Beyond earning the No. 1 slot on the charts in Greece, Scream’s chart entries include: US, No. 4; Finland, NO. 3; Japan No. 4 (international chart, No. 11 on combined chart); Norway, No. 5; Canada, No. 4; and Germany, No.7. In his native England, Scream is at No. 12; it also is No. 11 in Australia.

Vocal recording starts for the Headspace album at the beginning of August too, and with Pete back in the UK for a few weeks, guitar tracks are going down as well.

More news soon!

SCREAM out now.

Posted in Uncategorized on June 22, 2010 by adamwakeman

Well, it’s been a busy time with rehearsals in Los Angeles wrapping up with a one off intimate show we played Sunday 20th June at the House of Blues on the Sunset Strip in LA . Tickets were being given to the first 800 people who queued up and bought the new Ozzy Osbourne album “Scream” at the Omoeba record store.

The album is released around the world today, on June 22nd.

An error in the liner notes means the first pressing will have only 4 of the 5 tracks cowritten by myself, Ozzy and Kevin Churko being credited. The 5th track “I want it more” was incorrectly labeled just “Osbourne / Churko” due to a title change at the last minute, meaning the absense of my name. This will be corrected in later pressings.

Inbetween the rehearsal schedule, we played a few Tv shows – the Jimmy Kimmel show which can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MaC3b8XIPPg and today the George Lopez show, which I’m sure will be on you tube within a few hours!

We head back to the UK tomorrow for a few shows:

OZZY OSBOURNE
26th June – Birmingham town hall, UK
29th  June Folkestone, UK – Leas Cliff Hall
1st July Oxford, UK – Academy
3rd July – Camden, London – Itunes festival – Roundhouse
5th July Padova, Italy – Villa Contarini
9th July – Turku, Finland – Ruisrock Festival

I will be with Will Young on the following dates of his summer tour, before the Ozzy tour starts up early August.

WILL YOUNG
15th July – Rochester Castle – Kent
16th July – Leicester / Leicester Tigers Rugby Club
17th July – Kenwood House Hampstead
23rd July – Howard Davis park, Jersey
24th July –  Newton Abbot Racecourse – (South Devon festival)
25th July – Billericay / Essex Lake Meadows
31st July – Osborne Houes (Isle of Wight
1st August – Tatton Park (Cheshire)

Ozzy Osbourne rehearsals – Los Angeles 29th May 2010

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , on May 29, 2010 by adamwakeman

Saturday 29th May – Los Angeles.

Day 6 of rehearsals for the upcoming Ozzy world tour and all good so far.
Great being back in LA for the month and trying out some new gear to use on the shows. Some new additions to my rig would be the Korg Stage Vintage 1 which is sounding cool, A Yamaha Motif XS8 and a new endorsement from “Bolt” guitar amps which sounds superb. http://www.boltamps.com/pages/artists.html

It’s great playing some guitar on this tour, especially as a lot of the early Sabbath stuff generally didn’t have much in the way of keyboard parts. My guitar was made by Martin Dowding, a luthier who only makes a guitar every 2 years or so. Named by Martin as “demelza”, it is made in the style of a 1959 Les Paul and even has his own design and hand wound pick ups. Here’s hoping for more Sabbath tunes in the set so i get to play it more…!

The new Ozzy album “SCREAM” is released worldwide on 22nd June 2010 and has 5 songs I co wrote with Ozzy and Kevin Churko, the Grammy nominated producer who also produced “Black Rain”, Ozzy’s platinum selling album from 2007.

Tour dates can be found here http://www.ozzy.com as they are announced. We’ll go to most Countries on this tour so keep an eye out to see if we’re near you!

If you are in the US, keep an eye out for us on some main stream TV chat shows coming up in the 3rd week of June.

Headspace recording continues whilst I’m away with Pete, Lee & Rich all recording in between their other commitments. Keep an eye out in Classic Rock magazine for a tribute track recorded by Headspace due out in July….

More to follow from me once the tour starts….

Iceland, frozen pizza and recording.

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , , , on April 21, 2010 by adamwakeman

Slightly late with my weekend blog, due primarily to 2 of our 3 children being poorly. It’s amazing how soon you forget what sleepless nights are like… Anyway, Mr Wilson has been here at my studio in Buckinghamshire to record the vocal on a track as a tribute to a band we cant mention for a publication we also can’t mention.
Guesses on a postcard….! More on that soon.

We are recording vocals too over the next few weeks for the album, some here at my studio and some in London at Wendyhouse studios, a great place in Shephards Bush owned by Robbie Williams’ bass player Jerry Meehan. Unfortunately my studio (and home) are currently in the process of being boxed and moved before the tour starts with Ozzy in May.

Latest news on Ozzy’s new album here:

Pete is still out in America although was meant to be back here a few days back but Iceland put a stop to that.
Not the volcano that’s been erupting and stopping all flights in and out of Europe, but the frozen food chain ‘Iceland’ that’s had a sale on. Pete had a delivery to New York and is still unable to leave his hotel room due to a mis order of 1,700 frozen pizzas.

More progress on the album weekly (hopefully) from now!

Ad’s Birthday week blog March 2010

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , on March 14, 2010 by adamwakeman

Welcome back to the blog from Headspace HQ here in the sleepy village of Akeley in Buckinghamshire. Pete’s still shredding his way round the States with One Eskimo and is scheduled to return for a week at the end of March which will be good to catch up. Lee is just coming to the end of a run with It Bites and Rich has been busy in his studio recording drums on a couple of album sessions. In the meantime, I’ve been recording some keyboards on the album and this coming week will see the start of the drum recording with Rich down in London, which I think is a big city down south somewhere. Living in the country, I don’t get into the city much….

Damian is also paying a brief visit for a couple of days this week to visit a few studios to decide on where the vocals are to be recorded. He’s also working with me on a track for a film which we need to have finished by the end of the week.

Been a busy ‘family’ week with my brood celebrating my 36th birthday probably more enthusiastically than me. The best ‘day out’ find for quite some time is Wendover Woods, just outside the village of Aston Clinton in Aylesbury Vale which has a great cafe several miles into the woods and fantastic scenery and walks through the woods. Great for kids and dogs, and I also think we may have had the first BBQ of the season.

In Ozzy news, the album is nearly mixed and we’re still waiting for a release date, although I suspect it will be in June time ready for the start of the world tour in July. Kevin Churko the producer (who we are hoping to have mix the Headspace album) is already working on the new album for the band “In this moment” who are managed by Blasko, Ozzy’s bass player. I’m really looking forward to getting back out with the guys and although there’s been some personnel changes since the last one, I’m certain it will be a great tour. Look out for some UK dates to be announced soon. Who knows, maybe we can showcase the Headspace album if we can sneak on the bill!!

More news and videos soon. Check out www,youtube.com/headspacetheband for the latest video diaries from us lot.

Headspace news 6th Feb 2010

Posted in Uncategorized on February 6, 2010 by adamwakeman

Waving goodbye, tears and handkerchiefs are what you would have seen at Heathrow last week as Pete left for 3 months of an American tour with One Eskimo.
Headspace weren’t there to see him off, so the people that were actually there waving and crying must have been there seeing someone else off…

Lee and I have been rehearsing at Bush Studios in Shepard’s Bush, London for a week with an artist called Stacey Jackson who was running a charity event at the Tabernacle club in Nottinghill Gate in aid of Music for Youth. We had a great week alongside some other great musicians, Milton McDonald (some may remember him from working with Jon Anderson and touring guitar with ABWH) and Alex Toff on drums.

The Tabernacle club is within the walls of what looks like an old Roman Catholic church and I can only imagine just how much grief from it receives from it’s neighbours when it has music events!

More footage has been uploaded on to the youtube channel from the studio progress, albeit, not much recording….

Adam’s Xmas Blog

Posted in Uncategorized with tags , , , , on December 24, 2009 by adamwakeman

First of all a huge Happy Christmas to everyone from us guys and management of Headspace.

I would also like to say hi to all the people that came along to the Wakeman Xmas extravaganza at Marlborough college on Saturday and Sunday the 19th & 20th December.

The 2 nights, rather confusingly titled “Sadly, the Queen couldn’t make it” has become somewhat of a regular event with Rick Wakeman’s fan club Xmas dinner on the Sunday which this year raised money for Children’s Cancer charities.

I played a few pieces with Dad, and on the Sunday night, I played and sang “Hallilulia” with my sister Jemma singing some harmonies. I was also joined on stage by my 4 year old daughter Skyla (who is less familiar with it as a Lenard Cohen song, and more familiar with it as a song from the movie Shrek) who also sang the chorus’s with me. It was a beautiful moment that I can’t really put into words, but it made at least 2 grown men (that I know of) cry!

I played a couple of TV shows with Will Young in the weeks leading up to Xmas; Cheryl Cole’s show and Graham Norton, both of which were good fun – although the organisation at Cheryl Cole’s tv show was shocking and we were left in a dressing room for about 8 hours without so much as a glass of water. You’ve got to love TV – anyone who thinks it’s all showbiz air kisses and champagne, think again….

Ozzy’s new album is being mixed in the new year and it looks like my 6 co writes are on there which is great news. There were rumours in a UK magazine that the 2 year world tour starts in June so that means we’ll be coming to a city near you, wherever that is!

In Headspace news:

Damian’s been busy in Holland. The show was in Tilburgs 013 venue. There was an orchestra and a great band made up of musicians he has worked with over the years. The turn out was great especially due to the heavy snow conditions and it was filmed.
There was a great line up too, such as Jorn Lande , Christina Scabbia ,, Simon Simons and Charlotte Wessels. here’s a link to the event:

http://christmasmetalsymphony.net/

Pete is now back from his 2 month US tour with One Eskimo and is currently (most probably) still in a queue at Kings Cross station trying to get on a eurostar train to Paris for Christmas. Lee is snowed in somewhere in Sussex and Rich is pulling his hair out with wedding preparations. We are all excited at the prospect of us all being in the same room together as a band and who knows, might even get to have a play…..

That leaves us wishing you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year ! Album recording starts 2nd week in Jan and we’re all very excited…. watch this space……
